LIVONIA, MI (May 29, 2021) – Detroit City FC successfully built on their strong start to Midwest Premier League play on Saturday as they defeated Livonia City FC 5-0 on the road at Schoolcraft college. Right from the start, it was apparent that Le Rouge just wanted this one more tonight as they were first to every ball and were ruthless in 50/50 situations.
The scoring for Detroit City began in the 13th minute when #5 Caio Mazzo played a beautiful ball over the top and into the path of #8 Brady Walker who took it incredibly well and unleashed a rocket past the Livonia keeper with confidence. Then, 25 minutes later, Detroit City would double their advantage due to some quick thinking from #17 Benedek Tanyi who was first to pounce on a rebound from the Livonia keeper.
The Detroit City FC squad did not take their foot off of the gas with the 2-0 lead, coming out of the half with the same intensity that got them to such a lead and in the 54th minute #18 Shion Soga was taken down in the box following some very quick footwork, he then stepped up and calmly slotted home the PK. After this goal, six changes were made, every player listed on the team sheet got minutes this evening and it was very nice to see paired with the dominating performance.
The goals didn’t stop there, though. In minute 82 #8 Brady Walker beat a man on the edge of the box with some fancy skills and rifled home a rocket past the Livonia keeper at the near post for his second goal of the night to make it 4-0 and just to put the cherry on top, substitute #77 Sanad Yahya scored in stoppage time with a peach of a curler from the edge of the box to bring us to our final 5-0.
This win moves Detroit City FC U23 to (2-0-0) and we will next see them in action on June 5 at 4 pm ET at Keyworth Stadium when they host the West Michigan Bearings. This loss saw Livonia City FC drop to (0-2-3) as they still search for their first win of the season, they next take on Lake St. Clair FC on June 6 at 4 pm ET.

Women's Second Team Wins Opener In Canton Cup
CANTON, MI (May 29, 2021) – The Detroit City FC UWS 2 side began its first campaign in a winning fashion by defeating Rebels FC 2-1 at Independence Park in Canton, Michigan. The wind played a factor all throughout the match and made it difficult for either team to play long balls over the top.
Detroit City FC was the first to break the deadlock in the 27th minute when #57 Tori Singstock took a shot from an angle that was awkward for the Rebels goalkeeper and she could not get across to it. This lead would only last about fifteen minutes because on the brink of halftime the Rebels equalized through a scramble in the box that was tapped in by their forward, #4 Turner.
Almost immediately after halftime, Le Rouge would find their way ahead in this one as Singstock played a ball to #6 Bri Rogers who tucked it home to give Detroit City FC the lead, this goal would end up being crucial for Le Rouge who would go on to see out the 2-1 victory over the Rebels.

Detroit City FC Tops Corktown AFC 3-0
DETROIT, MI (May 26, 2021) – Detroit City Football Club played the third match of their 2021 UWS season not far from home at the Corner Ballpark in Detroit on Wednesday evening.
Things escalated quickly for the Detroit City offense in this game. After 10 minutes of testing each other, #40 Alia Frederick lofted in a dangerous cross into the box, and #5 Sarah Huge was able to dive in to head it home, putting City up 1-0. Not long after, Corktown was unable to clear a ball in the box, and #24 Kenna White was right there to deftly chip it over the AFC goalkeeper to record an early 2-0 lead.
Despite more chances at both ends, the score would remain 2-0 in the first half of action.
Things were even to begin the second half until City was awarded a free kick just on top of Corktown’s box in the 52nd minute. Second-half sub #31 Tatiana Mason took the kick and placed it in the top right corner to put Detroit City up 3-0 with plenty of game left.
With numerous substitutions for both sides in the second half, Corktown was rarely able to break the midfield press deployed by Le Rouge, which helped them see out the 3-0 scoreline until the final whistle blew.
