Dominic Gasso is back on a USL Academy deal ahead of the 2023 season. Gasso was signed to his first ever professional contract last season and made two appearances for Le Rouge last season, making his debut away to the Charleston Battery on August 27.

The Grand Blanc native played for Vardar Academy & the Flint City Bucks Academy before joining the Detroit City FC U19 Boys Academy team! Last spring, he participated in the 2022 USL Academy Cup in Tampa, FL. Gasso is eligible to compete for the Club’s USL Academy Cup team as well as with the first team.

Michael Bryant is back with Detroit City FC for his second season with Le Rouge. Due to injuries around the squad in 2022, Bryant was asked to play a wide array of roles and positions, always showing his talent when being asked to do so. Most often Bryant was deployed as a center back and this pliability led to him making 30 appearances last season for Detroit City FC, starting 24 matches. Bryant also scored four goals last season.

Last season Michael Bryant made the jump to the USL Championship from NISA with Le Rouge, coming to Detroit City after spending three years with the Cal United Strikers – starting 36 of the 39 matches he appeared in. Bryant captained the NPSL’s Orange County FC from 2017-19 – making a historic run through the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, knocking off the USL Championship’s Orange County SC in penalties and Las Vegas Lights FC before falling in the fourth round to the LA Galaxy. The midfielder from Portola Hills, California, played collegiately at Elmira, scoring 31 goals in 49 appearances, before transferring to Northwest Nazarene in Idaho where he earned All-Conference honors. 

Abdoulaye Diop was a crucial part of the Detroit City FC midfield in the 2023 season, often in a double-pivot with Maxi Rodriguez in the middle of the park. Diop started in 21 matches, appearing in 26, completing 80% of his passes in 1884 minutes of play. Diop first joined Detroit City FC for the 2019 season – when he made 14 appearances with a goal in the NPSL. The midfielder from Dakar, Senegal, then went on to spend time with Atlanta United 2, developing his game in the USL Championship.
