Maxi Rodriguez comes back to the City midfield for his third season in Le Rouge. Rodriguez ended the 2022 season as Detroit City FC’s leading goal scorer thanks to stellar play from the midfield which often saw him in advanced attacking positions in the final third. The highlight of this was a hat-trick performance on the road to Loudoun United toward the end of the season. It was Rodriguez’s second-half brace against the Columbus Crew of the MLS that saw Le Rouge advance to the Round of 32 in the US Open Cup. Rodriguez finished fourth in the 2021 NISA Fall Golden Boot race with seven goals, earning first-team league plaudits. The San Antonio native is an alumnus of University of North Carolina at Charlotte and came to Detroit from the Richmond Kickers and San Antonio FC.
