DETROIT — Detroit City Football Club returns to Keyworth Stadium this Saturday for an Eastern Conference battle against The Miami FC. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+ and TUDN and broadcast locally on CW Detroit 50 (WKBD-TV). For Michigan residents, the match is free to stream on CBSDetroit.com.
Le Rouge enters this match having gone eight matches without a win in all competitions, with their most recent game resulting in a 3-2 loss to Loudoun United last Saturday evening. Ben Morris opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with an incredible strike, but Loudoun equalized in the 38th minute and scored the go-ahead goal in first-half stoppage time. Detroit quickly equalized in the second half with a Michael Bryant goal in the 52nd minute, but Loudoun’s goal in the 64th minute ultimately decided the match.
The Miami FC currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference on 16 points, one point behind Detroit City. That tally already surpasses where Miami was last season, finishing bottom of the table on 11 points.
Miami enters this match off a shocking 1-0 victory over second-place Charleston Battery on Wednesday evening. Matias Romero scored the only goal of the night with a stunning strike from outside the box that found the top corner.
Goalkeeper Bill Hamid has played a key role in Miami’s recent run of positive results, having kept a clean sheet in two out of the last three games. The former United States National Team goalkeeper joined the club this offseason and has made 43 saves so far this season across all competitions. Forward Francisco Bonfiglio also joined the club in the offseason, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances so far this season.
These two teams kicked off the 2025 USL Championship season in March at South Dade Kia Field at Pitbull Stadium, where Detroit walked away with a decisive 2-0 victory. Michael Bryant opened the scoring for Le Rouge with a goal in the 32nd minute, and an insurance goal from Connor Rutz in the 87th minute ensured that Detroit earned its first three points of 2025.
Detroit welcomes Liga MX side Club Santos Laguna on Wednesday, June 25th. Kickoff for this international friendly at Keyworth is set for 8 p.m. Tickets for all Detroit City matches are available at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
