DETROIT, Michigan – Detroit City Football Club (DCFC) is pleased to announce a historic partnership for the club by signing on Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers (MDCD) as its premier partner for the 2020 season, in addition to the 2021 and 2022 seasons. The three-year commitment marks a return for MDCD, who served as DCFC’s premier partner from 2015 to 2017, and helps usher in a new chapter for DCFC as its men’s team becomes Detroit’s first professional soccer team in a generation, and a new DCFC women’s team launches in May.
“Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers has been a partner of ours since our early days at Cass Tech,” said Sean Mann, CEO of Detroit City Football Club. “It means the world to have them continue to partner with our organization even during these uncertain times. We will emerge from the current public health crisis, with the help of partnerships like this, and look forward to bringing professional soccer back to Detroit, as well as launch our women’s team and grow our presence among the region’s vibrant youth soccer scene for years to come,” he said.
Also part of the partnership, the all-new 2020 Chevy Blazer has been named the Official Car of DCFC. The vehicle, which will be promoted with the hashtag #ChevydrivesDCFC, will be visible at all home games and player appearances at DCFC youth events. In addition, Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers’ logo will be featured on the front of DCFC’s jerseys for both its men’s and women’s teams, its youth affiliated clubs starting in 2021, and replica jerseys on sale to the public. Furthermore, the west field at the Detroit City Fieldhouse, located at 3401 E. Lafayette Street, will be rebranded as the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Field. The Fieldhouse is a 75,000 square-foot indoor facility that is home to two turf fields, the DCFC front office, and DCFC’s bar and restaurant—Detroit City Clubhouse.
Another key component of MDCD’s partnership will be centered around youth sports. Once regular group and community activities are permitted, DCFC will be hosting 12 youth soccer clinics in 2020 throughout Metro Detroit that will include coaching from DCFC men’s and women’s players and a complimentary ticket to a DCFC match. These clinics will be free to participants who have a coupon that can be obtained at any of the local Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers locations. In the mean time, the team will be highlighting skills and activities for youth players via social media, in partnership with the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers.
“DCFC is a Detroit success story that started from very humble beginnings and has grown into a local soccer phenom,” said John Fox, President of the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Local Marketing Association. “Starting as a local co-ed recreational league and expanding into what it is today – a professional men’s team, a new women’s team, and hundreds of youth teams, as well as providing one of the most energetic game-day atmospheres in the state – the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Association can’t help but feel excited to once again support DCFC, its devoted soccer fans, as well as our future soccer stars.”
The Detroit City FC men’s team will resume its first professional season as soon as feasible based upon on-going conversations with league and local health officials pending the on-going COVID-19 situation. The DCFC women’s team is set to begin play in May in United Women’s Soccer (UWS), the second division of women’s soccer in the United States. Season tickets will provide guaranteed entry to all regular season and friendly matches for the men’s and women’s teams at Keyworth Stadium and can be purchased at https://www.detcityfc.com.
