DETROIT, MI – Detroit City FC has today announced a long-awaited home-and-home preseason series against Chattanooga FC.
Two of America’s premier amateur soccer clubs, DCFC and Chattanooga FC are leading examples of grassroots success in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), with strong ties to their respective communities and passionate supporter groups.
DCFC will visit Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 PM ET. A week later, Le Rouge will welcome Chattanooga to Keyworth Stadium, in Hamtramck, Mich., on Saturday, April 28 with a 7:30 PM ET kickoff time.
Founded in 2009, Chattanooga FC has been an inspiration to American soccer since its inception. One of those inspired by Chattanooga FC was Sean Mann, who got the idea for Detroit City after visiting the Scenic City in 2011 and had a chance meeting with one of the CFC founders.
“This is something we’ve wanted to give our fans for quite some time,” said Detroit City FC co-owner Sean Mann. “Not only will it be a match-up of two organizations that have redefined what an American soccer club can be, but it will also be a chance for some of the best soccer fans in the country to come together in the stands.”
“This is a match-up that we’ve all been waiting for.” said GM of Chattanooga FC, Sean McDaniel. “By showcasing the two premier amateur clubs in America we are demonstrating to soccer fans across the country that grassroots soccer teams and passionate, loyal fans are here to stay.”
For the April 21st match in Chattanooga, individual tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the match.
For the April 28th match at Keyworth Stadium, tickets range from $10-20.
“We expect these matches will generate considerable buzz, both clubs are telling exciting stories in the soccer landscape” said Joe Barone, NPSL Chairman. “We are proud to showcase this event to all the supporters of the NPSL and bring further awareness to teams in our league.”
Detroit City FC’s seventh regular season NPSL campaign kicks off on Sunday, May 13 at AFC Ann Arbor. DCFC’s 2018 NPSL home opener is set for Friday, May 25 when it hosts FC Columbus at 7:30 PM.
Le Rouge’s full 2018 schedule will be released Tuesday, February 6. Season tickets will go on sale to the general public on February 9. Single game tickets, including tickets for DCFC vs. Chattanooga FC, will be available March 1.
