DETROIT, MI – Detroit City FC and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit are proud to announce a partnership to launch an enhanced youth soccer initiative, the Detroit City FC Youth League.
The Detroit City FC Youth League launches in April 2018 and will be instrumental in growing the sport of soccer and promoting active lifestyles for Metro Detroit youth.
With a spring season beginning April 16, the Detroit City FC Youth League will provide opportunities to interact with DCFC players and staff at practices and clinics throughout the season. All participants will also don special DCFC jerseys. A league-wide community service project is planned.
The new youth soccer league is open to children aged 2-17 at all YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit locations.
“The YMCA of Metro Detroit is honored to partner with Detroit City FC,” said Matthew Humenay, Regional Director of Sports for the YMCA of Metro Detroit. “Youth soccer players will have the opportunity to grow their skills with the support of two caring and committed organizations. We look forward to more children embracing the game of soccer.”
The sports initiatives at the YMCA focus on healthy competition, team building values, and family involvement. Detroit City FC is proud to be a partner in this cause.
“It means a lot to us to have the opportunity to partner with an institution in our region like The Y,” said Detroit City FC co-owner Sean Mann. “This partnership will allow us to reach more families across Metro Detroit and spread our love and knowledge of the beautiful game.”
The YMCA’s Detroit City FC Youth League program dates, participant ages, and fees vary by location. Participation fees begin at $80 for YMCA members and $100 for non-members and include a YMCA Detroit City FC uniform.
Registration for ages 4-8 is now open at https://www.detcityfc.com/YMCA. Registration for additional age groups will open in the coming months.
