Detroit City FC will take to the pitch on Friday, June 23 in support of Alternatives For Girls, a Detroit-based nonprofit organization that serves homeless and high-risk girls and young women through prevention, shelter and outreach.
In recognition of Alternatives For Girls and its work in our community, DCFC players will wear commemorative jerseys for the June 23rd match against Kalamazoo FC at Keyworth Stadium.
After the match, each participating player’s jersey will be auctioned off to the highest bidder in a silent auction held at the stadium. All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit Alternatives For Girls.
Founded in 1987, Alternatives For Girls provides a range of critical services to girls and young women, including safe shelter, street outreach and educational support, vocational guidance, mentoring prevention activities and counseling.
Each year, AFG serves more than 4,000 homeless and at-risk girls and women in the city of Detroit.
The AFG mission “is to empower the girls and young women we serve to make positive choices.”

Each season, Detroit City FC has a designated charity partner that the club and its supporters raise funds for, as well as whose work they highlight. Past partners have included Freedom House, Detroit PAL, and the Ruth Ellis Center.
“We couldn’t be happier to highlight the amazing, and all too often unheralded, work Alternatives For Girls is doing to improve the lives of Detroit’s young women,” DCFC co-owner Sean Mann said. “They work with some of Detroit’s most vulnerable residents and give them the support and the personal tools and skills necessary for a better life.”

DCFC’s match on Friday, June 23 will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. at Keyworth Stadium. Tickets for the match are only $10 and can be purchased here.
Last season, DCFC and its supporters raised a total of $2,000 in support of its 2016 charity partner, Freedom House Detroit.
Season tickets are still available for 2017. Season ticket packages for 2017 start at $70 for entry to at least 10 home matches.
