Detroit City FC is proud to announce Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers (MDCD) will return as title sponsor of Detroit’s soccer team in 2017.
DCFC’s title sponsor since 2015, Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers will once again return to the front of the home and away jerseys worn by City players for the new season.
The partnership also includes online streaming of all of City’s home regular season National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) matches at Keyworth Stadium and its Detroit Cougars 50th Anniversary Match against Glentoran FC on Saturday, May 27 at Keyworth.
Additionally, thanks to MDCD, City will again host several youth clinics during the summer season for children aged six through 12. The clinics are held throughout the region and are free for participants with a coupon ($30 value) that can be obtained at any of the local Metro Detroit Chevy Dealer locations beginning in early May. Details about this year’s clinics will be released in the coming weeks.
Last year, DCFC’s livestreams presented by MDCD were broadcasted on https://www.detcityfc.com and Fox Sports Detroit online. In total, the streamed matches reached more than 3,000 viewers per match from 48 different countries around the world.
City’s 2017 jerseys will be unveiled at DCFC’s third annual Soccer Prom, where supporters will have the first chance to see the new jerseys and major sponsors ahead of the season. Event details will be released at a later date.
“Detroit City Football Club is thrilled to continue this partnership with Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers,” DCFC General Manager Donovan Powell said. “As a result of our MDCD sponsorship, DCFC has experienced not only growth of our fan base, with match attendance increasing each year, but broader support and awareness of the game and the enthusiasm it generates, through the MDCD-sponsored summer youth soccer clinics.”
“The Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Association is big on ‘The D’ and was first drawn to the Detroit City Football Club’s motto, ‘Passion for our City, Passion for the Game,’” Paul Stanford, President of Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Local Marketing Association, said. “With goals to satisfy the demand for soccer in Detroit, represent the city in a positive light and build community through soccer, we share key commonalities. It’s proven to be a quality sponsorship that is bringing attention to soccer, the exciting activities in and around Detroit, and the terrific Chevy cars and trucks that drive the Motor City.”
City’s home opener is Saturday, May 6, when it hosts Dayton Dynamo at Keyworth Stadium in an exhibition match at 7:30 PM. The NPSL season kicks off on Friday, May 12, when Le Rouge hosts Milwaukee Torrent at 7:30 PM.
