DETROIT – Detroit City FC will hold an open tryout for aspiring professional players on Friday, January 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at High Velocity in Canton. A detailed schedule with arrival times will be sent to registered participants approximately one week prior to the tryout.
The tryouts are open to men ages 16 and older. Previous professional, college, or high-level amateur experience is recommended. The cost to register for the tryout is $110.
During the tryout, players will have the opportunity to be evaluated by sporting director Trevor James, head coach Danny Dichio, the first team, DCFC II, and the DCFC Academy technical staff. Individuals selected from the open tryout could be called back for further evaluation or earn a spot in the 2025 preseason camp.
“We aim to leave no stone unturned in enhancing our roster, which includes hosting open tryouts for player evaluations,” said Detroit City sporting director Trevor James. “The professional leagues are full of stories of players who have been overlooked until given the right opportunity to showcase their talent. We’re excited to see who shows up to prove they should be a Detroit City player.”
Participants will be responsible for their own travel costs and lodging if needed. The team does not offer assistance with visas or letters of invitation except on a case-by-case basis.
Tryout sessions will be conducted indoors on turf fields. Players are expected to bring the gear necessary to compete, including personal water bottles.
