DETROIT, Michigan- The Detroit City Football Club wraps up its four-match W League road stint at AFC Ann Arbor on Wednesday, June 1. Kickoff from Saline High School is set for 7:30 pm and streaming is available via Eleven Sports.
Le Rouge (1-2-2) is coming off of its first win of the season and as members of the USL W League, a 3-1 victory at Flint City AFC. Forward Ellie Pool led Detroit City with two goals earning her the Woman of the Match honors. She now leads the team with three goals this season.
Forward Kenna White – the side’s all-time leading goal scorer – netted her first of the campaign last time out, taking advantage of some chaos in the box following a corner. After her first attempt was blocked, White reloaded for a second strike that found the back of the net.
Detroit City fired off 26 shots at Flint City, forcing nine saves. The shot total was Le Rouge’s highest of the season. White and Pool lead the side with 12 and 11 shots.
AFC Ann Arbor currently sits in fourth place in the Great Lakes Division with a 2-1-1 record, most recently earning a 2-2 draw against Indy Eleven. Wednesday’s fixture is the third of four-straight home contests for Ann Arbor. The lone blemish on the record came in the season opener, falling 4-2 to Flint City.
Lina Berrah paces AFC Ann Arbor with three goals – netting a brace against Kalamazoo FC. Ann Arbor has had seven different goal scorers through four matches.
Detroit City returns home to Keyworth Stadium on Sunday, June 5, to take on Kings Hammer FC. The match will also serve as a 50th anniversary celebration of Title IX.
