We are excited to announce our first iteration of the Detroit City FC Youth Roundup, designed with the focus of highlighting and promoting the accomplishments of the next generation of Le Rouge.
Detroit City FC’s youth network is composed of five locations, all with competitive and recreational playing opportunities: City Select, Downriver, Genesee, South Oakland and West. Each youth affiliate operates with the same goal; promoting and developing talent from the recreational leagues all the way to the USL Championship and W League sides.
Each of Detroit City’s affiliates have a similar pathway to the first teams, providing opportunities starting with junior mini-kickers at U-3, all the way through travel, competitive teams from U7-U19.
City recently kicked off its USL Academy Development Center – which is a supplemental training program for the top DCFC youth players – boys and girls – at the U13, U15 and U19 age levels. The Development Center, which is run out of the main Club with input from Le Rouge’s first-team staffs, gives our players in the affiliate network an opportunity to compete for a spot in Detroit City’s Academy program – just one step away from the first team.
This path has been specifically designed to give youth players the best chance to be fully prepared for the rigorous levels of competition within the USL and further their development in an accessible, affordable environment.
Tryouts for the Detroit City FC Youth affiliates are quickly approaching. Locations are offering open training and ID sessions leading into the June 11-12 tryouts. For more information on upcoming sessions and tryouts, visit any of our affiliates pages listed below.
Best of luck to all the City youth squads that will be competing in the State Cup this month:
