DETROIT, Michigan – Given the potential threat to players, staff, fans and the wider community posed by COVID-19 (coronavirus) and based on consultations with local health officials, Detroit City Football Club and the National Independent Soccer Association have announced a league-wide suspension of play for 30 days effective immediately.
"We greatly appreciate the support the community has shown to the club," said DCFC CEO Sean Mann. "The last thing we want to do is to contribute to the current threat posed to our community."
While working with league officials, member clubs and local health officials, DCFC will determine next steps for moving forward in regards to the coronavirus outbreak, as well as future matches and club activities.

The U.S. Cup match versus the El Paso Locomotive FC on April 8 at Keyworth Stadium remains scheduled as is pending further guidance from the U.S. Soccer Federation.
Additionally, DCFC and NISA recommend all players and fans stay safe during this period, adhere to the following hygiene guidelines laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO):

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Don't shake hands during or after a game.

Stay home when you are sick.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
