Detroit City FC announced it will open a mixed-use office, retail and community space at 2750 Yemans Street in Hamtramck.
The retail space, which will feature a full array of DCFC merchandise including men’s, women’s, youth apparel and other DCFC team accessories, will open Friday, April 22. To commemorate the opening, Detroit City FC will host an open house on Wednesday, April 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. where the public can stop by to chat with staff and owners of the club.
The store will be open weekly from Wednesday to Sunday. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday, and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The incorporation of a community gathering space gives the public the opportunity to visit and learn more about DCFC. DCFC front office staff will occupy the office space.
“We plan to use the space to introduce ourselves to the Hamtramck community. We’re looking forward to people stopping by to learn more about the team,” DCFC co-owner Todd Kropp said. “We’ll show video footage from past DCFC games so those who haven’t yet attended a match can get a feel for our game day atmosphere.”
In February of 2016, Detroit City FC concluded the largest community investment campaign in Michigan history. A total of 527 individuals pledged more than $740,000 to save 80-year-old Keyworth Stadium.
Renovation work at Keyworth is on schedule for the team’s home opener on May 20, 2016.
DCFC staff and volunteers will launch a door-to-door campaign to introduce the team to its new neighbors in and around Keyworth Stadium. The outreach effort will provide residents with team info and a ticket discount redeemable at the shop on Yemans. Volunteers will also have the chance to help paint bleachers at the stadium.
