Detroit City FC and Loudoun United played to a 0-0 draw Saturday night at Keyworth Stadium, as Le Rouge controlled much of the match but could not find a breakthrough.
Detroit City held a 56.5 – 43.5 advantage in possession and also led in total shots (12-11), touches in the opposing penalty area (25-19), corners (8-3), and final-third passes (161-108), but managed just one shot on target.
The hosts settled into the match with control in possession, building through Callum Montgomery, Tommy Silva, Devon Amoo-Mensah and Kobe Hernández-Foster. Montgomery completed a team-high 61 passes, while Hernández-Foster led Detroit City with 19 completed passes in the final third.
Detroit City’s best opportunity fell to Maxi Rodriguez, with two attempts narrowly missing the goal. Ates Diouf entered at halftime and provided an immediate attacking spark, leading Le Rouge with three shots and recording Detroit City’s lone effort on target.
Loudoun created danger through Abdellatif Aboukoura, who took three shots, the visitors’ highest total. Noah Adnan and substitute Akil Watts each registered a shot on target, but Carlos Herrera made two saves to preserve his clean sheet, his 8th of the season.
Detroit City’s back line held firm throughout the night. Herrera finished with 11 recoveries and two saves, while Hernández-Foster added seven recoveries. Aedan Stanley won two tackles before being replaced at halftime, and Montgomery won an aerial duel and a tackle while completing 88.4 percent of his passes.
Amoo-Mensah and Abdoulaye Diop received yellow cards for Le Rouge, while Loudoun’s Pacifique Niyongabire was cautioned in the 81st minute. Neither side found a late winner, and the points were shared in a tightly contested match.
