Forward Connor Rutz is preparing for his sixth season with Le Rouge. After having his contract option exercised in the offseason, the 2021 Black Arrow MVP Award winner is ready to take on the role of the veteran as one of the longest-serving DCFC members on this year’s squad.
Last season, Rutz appeared in 24 matches across all competitions for Detroit City. Out of those 24, Rutz made the Starting XI in 13 matches. In 1,158 minutes played, Rutz scored three goals on the season, one in the opening game at Colorado Springs and two in a row in September, one against Louisville City and one against Monterey Bay.
Rutz played 35 matches for Le Rouge in 2023 across all competitions, accumulating 32 starts and 2,895 minutes played while collecting two assists during the season. In Le Rouge’s USL Championship debut in 2022, Rutz appeared in 33 regular season matches in the USL Championship, starting 30. He scored three goals, two of which were game-winners.
The Commerce Township, MI native played in 29 matches for Le Rouge in 2021 and was named to NISA’s first team after scoring five goals and providing two assists. Prior to joining Detroit City ahead of the 2020 season, the Saginaw Valley State product played for the Cincinnati Dutch Lions in 2018 and concluded his collegiate career as the 2019 GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year.
