Forward Ates Diouf joins Detroit City on loan from Lexington SC for the 2025 season and will wear #32 this season for Le Rouge.
Diouf has spent the past two seasons with Lexington SC in USL League One. In his debut season with the Kentucky-based club, he became the team’s leading goal scorer, netting 15 goals. Diouf was named to the USL League One All-League First Team for 2023 following an outstanding season. In 2024, he excelled with Lexington, scoring ten goals and providing five assists. Diouf was selected to the 2024 USL League One All-League Second Team for his performance.
Before transferring to Lexington, Diouf played the 2022 season with USL Championship team San Antonio FC. The forward played eleven matches, starting five, and contributed to San Antonio’s first league title in the club’s history.
Diouf spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons with USL Championship side Austin Bold FC. During his two seasons with the Texas club, he played 38 matches out of a possible 48. Diouf scored five goals and provided five assists in those two seasons.
The Dakar, Senegal native was recruited to the United States after being scouted by SIMA Águilas, then of USL League Two. The winger made five appearances with Águilas in 2018 before moving on to Orlando City B in 2019, where he scored his first professional goal against South Georgia Tormenta FC. Diouf ended up playing 17 matches for the USL League One side.
