Detroit City FC finished the USL Championship regular season Saturday evening after a 0-0 draw with Louisville City FC. Saturday’s result clinched the third overall seed in the Eastern Conference for Le Rouge.
A quiet first half saw three yellow cards issued around the 30th minute, first to Louisville City FC’s Babacar Niang. Detroit City FC’s Kobe Hernandez-Foster and Callum Montgomery were both booked shortly after.
The second half saw Detroit City FC have several chances at a goal. Kobe Hernandez-Foster sailed a free kick just over the net early in the half. Cheikhou Niang saw two fantastic chances, one in the 59th minute and one in the 66th, though he was unable to convert on them, keeping the match scoreless. Louisville City had a chance shortly after, but the threat ended when they were caught offside.
A late Detroit City FC push saw another great chance for Niang trickle just wide of the net. Le Rouge made another push off a corner, but was unable to convert and the game ended in a scoreless draw.
Carlos Herrera returned to the field for Detroit City FC and continued his golden glove campaign. Herrera saw an early test, stopping a Louisville City FC shot in the 5th minute. On the night, Herrera stopped three Louisville City FC shots.
