Storylines
Playoffs Bound: Detroit City FC clinched a spot in the USL Championship Playoffs with their win against Brooklyn FC on Wednesday night. This is Detroit City FC’s fifth consecutive playoff appearance, having made the postseason every year since joining the Championship in 2022.
Home-Field Advantage: Le Rouge currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference, at 44 points. Currently behind Detroit City FC are Hartford (39 points), Pittsburgh (38), and Louisville (37). Tampa Bay and Charleston top the table, with 52 and 46 points, respectively. The top four in each conference guarantee a home playoff game for the first round, so Danny Dichio’s squad will look to bring the playoffs back to Keyworth for the first time since 2024.
The Race for the Golden Boot: Darren Smith scored his 13th goal of the season on Wednesday, his first since August 8th. Smith is now tied for third in the USL Championship, behind El Paso’s Rubio Rubín (16) and Colorado Springs’ Khori Bennett (14).
An Upcoming Milestone: Carlos Herrera looks to solidify his case for the Goalkeeper of the Year award, with 12 clean sheets in the USL Championship this year. Herrera also has 52 saves on the season, putting him one shy of 200 for his career.
Hispanic Heritage Night: Saturday is Hispanic Heritage Night! Featuring a luchador mask giveaway at Gate 3, along with a wrestling performance on the concourse before the match.
