Detroit City FC (DCFC) and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC played to a 0-0 draw Saturday night at Keyworth Stadium, embattled with fouls and physical play throughout. Both sides finished with one shot on target.
Darren Smith recorded Le Rouge’s lone shot on target, while second-half substitutes Kian Williams and Cheikhou Niang each added an attempt as Detroit pressed for a late winner.
Detroit City found consistent opportunities from wide areas throughout the match. Aedan Stanley and Kobe Hernández-Foster each attempted six crosses, while Stanley led all Detroit players with 56 touches. Hernández-Foster completed 10 passes in the final third, the most by any Le Rouge player.
The match grew increasingly physical, with 39 combined fouls and five yellow cards. Amoo-Mensah and Callum Montgomery were cautioned during the first half, while Colorado Springs received three yellow cards after halftime. Detroit’s back line held firm late, with Haruki Yamazaki totaling a team-high eight recoveries and both Yamazaki and Amoo-Mensah winning two tackles.
