Detroit City FC Women closed out the 2026 season Saturday night with a 3-1 loss to Union FC Macomb at Keyworth Stadium.
Union FC Macomb seized control early, capitalizing on a fast start with two goals in the opening 11 minutes to put Detroit City FC on its heels. The visitors consistently created dangerous opportunities throughout the evening, finishing with 18 total shots while limiting Le Rouge to seven.
Despite the early deficit, Detroit City FC settled into the match defensively and responded with a much stronger performance over the remainder of the first half. Le Rouge limited Union FC Macomb’s attacking chances for long stretches and entered halftime trailing by two while searching for a way back into the contest.
The second half saw Detroit City FC push for a breakthrough, with both sides battling through a physical midfield contest. Several substitutions helped inject fresh energy into the lineup as Le Rouge looked to generate momentum.
Union FC Macomb eventually restored its attacking pressure late in the match, with Ella Jablinksey scoring her second goal of the evening in the 80th minute to extend the advantage to 3-0.
Detroit City FC continued to fight until the final whistle and was rewarded in the 88th minute with a late consolation goal by Kayla Addison, preventing the shutout and providing a positive finish to the season finale. However, there was not enough time remaining to complete a comeback as Union FC Macomb secured the 3-1 victory.
The result brings Detroit City FC Women’s 2026 campaign to a close with a final record of 4-4-2.
