DETROIT, MI – Detroit City FC’s USL W League side hits the road Saturday to face Midwest United FC on May 30 at 6 p.m. after opening the year with a 2-1 road win over AFC Ann Arbor on May 16 behind goals from Kaiya Stewart and Drew Martin, then followed it with a 1-0 victory over Kalamazoo in the home opener as Lily Jeakle converted a dramatic last-minute penalty kick at Keyworth Stadium. Across those first two wins, Detroit showed the defensive discipline and late-match composure that have already become early hallmarks under Head Coach Dani Evans.
That momentum was slowed midweek by a narrow 1-0 loss to Union FC Macomb, but Detroit still enters Saturday in the thick of the division race with an opportunity to quickly reset before returning home next week. Through the opening stretch, Le Rouge has remained difficult to break down, conceding just three goals while relying on a compact back line and timely contributions in the final third.

The Great Lakes Division race remains tightly packed entering the weekend. Detroit City FC sits on six points through four matches with a 2-1-1 record, while Kalamazoo FC also has six points through three matches and Union FC Macomb has six points through four matches after Wednesday’s result.

Midwest United FC has quietly put together a solid start, taking four points from its first three Great Lakes fixtures and showing it can both grind and trade punches. A 2–1 home win over Union FC Macomb set the tone, followed by a 1–1 draw with AFC Ann Arbor to keep momentum building. Most recently, they went toe‑to‑toe with Kalamazoo on the road in a 3–2 loss.
