Detroit City FC has named forward Hannah Crum as captain of its USL W League squad for the 2026 season, the club announced Wednesday, elevating one of its most accomplished and consistent performers into a leadership role.
Crum, a standout since joining Le Rouge in 2023, brings a prolific scoring record and championship experience to the captaincy. She was a key contributor during Detroit City’s 2024 Great Lakes Division title run and has continued to produce across both outdoor and indoor competitions.
“Hannah embodies everything this club stands for: work ethic, consistency, and leadership,” said head coach Dani Evans. “Her impact on and off the field makes her the natural choice to lead this group.”
Before joining Detroit City FC, Crum built a decorated collegiate career at Aquinas College. From 2018 to 2022, she developed into one of the most dominant attacking players in program history. She posted 23 goals and 12 assists over her first two seasons, followed by a 17-goal, 10-assist campaign in 2020 that helped secure a conference title. In 2021, she tallied 16 goals and 11 assists as Aquinas finished 21–2–1 and earned a national ranking, leading to CoSIDA First Team All-American honors.
Her senior season cemented her legacy. Crum scored at 17 goals, bringing her career total to 73, becoming Aquinas’ all-time leading scorer. She also helped guide the Saints to the NAIA National Tournament quarterfinals and earned CoSIDA Second Team All-American recognition.
Since arriving in Detroit, Crum has translated that success to the next level. During the 2024 USL W season, she contributed two goals and two assists as the club captured the Great Lakes Division title. She also made an immediate impact indoors, recording 11 goals and 6 assists during Detroit City’s inaugural PASL women’s campaign.
Crum has remained a central figure in the club’s indoor success. In the 2024–2025 MASLW season, she scored 8 goals and added 2 assists as Detroit City went undefeated in the regular season (10–0) and advanced to the league championship final, finishing as runner-up. She scored in the championship match as well.
Her strong form continued into the 2025 outdoor season, where she recorded four goals, including two-goal performances against Toledo Villa FC and Midwest United FC, and added three assists. Her efforts earned her the club’s Black Arrow Award as team MVP.
Most recently, Crum helped lead Detroit City to the MASLW National Semifinals during the 2025–2026 indoor campaign, finishing with 8 goals and 4 assists.
Now, as captain, Crum is expected to guide a Detroit City squad with high expectations heading into the 2026 USL W League season.
Detroit City FC will open its 2026 campaign on the road Saturday, May 16, vs AFC Ann Arbor, with their home opener scheduled for Saturday May 23 against Kalamazoo FC, at Keyworth Stadium. Tickets are still available.
