
DETROIT — Detroit City Football Club is proud to announce today that forward Ates Diouf has joined the club on loan from Lexington SC. The deal is a season-long loan, and he will wear #32 this season for Le Rouge.
The Dakar, Senegal native has spent the past two seasons with Lexington SC in USL League One. In his debut season with the Kentucky-based club, Diouf became the club’s leading goal scorer in their inaugural season with 15 goals. With an excellent season, Diouf was named to the USL League One All-League First Team for 2023. 2024 would see Diouf continue to excel with Lexington, scoring ten goals and adding five assists to his total. Diouf was named to the 2024 USL League One All-League Second Team for his play.
Before moving to Lexington, Diouf spent the 2022 season with USL Championship side San Antonio FC. The forward appeared in eleven matches, starting in five, as he helped San Antonio to the league title for the first time in club history.
Diouf would spend the 2020 and 2021 seasons with USL Championship side Austin Bold FC. Over the two seasons, he played with the Texas club, Diouf played 38 matches out of a possible 48 matches. Diouf scored five goals and assisted on five in those two seasons.
Diouf was recruited to the United States after being scouted by SIMA Águilas, then of USL League Two. The winger would make five appearances with Águilas in 2018 before moving on to Orlando City B in 2019, where he would score his first professional goal against South Georgia Tormenta FC. Diouf would end up playing 17 matches for the USL League One side.
