DETROIT – Today, Detroit City Football Club announced that former men’s first-team player Brad Dunwell has been named the head coach of Detroit City FC II. Dunwell is Detroit City FC II’s first-ever full-time head coach.
Dunwell’s first stint with the club came in 2022 when he was signed as a midfielder for the club’s first season in the USL Championship. In 2022, Dunwell would appear in 20 league matches for Le Rouge, starting 13 and playing nearly 1,300 minutes.
2023 saw Dunwell suit up for Charlotte Independence of USL League One, and this would be Dunwell’s last season of professional soccer before returning to his hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to coach for Midwest United FC. While at Midwest United FC, Dunwell coached the 2008 and 2009 ENCL squads while also serving as a player-coach for Midwest United’s USL League Two side.
Dunwell holds a B License from US Soccer.
