DETROIT — Today Detroit City FC has announced six players who will be joining the 2024 W League squad: Hannah Gabriel (M), Ella Kane (F), Ella Offer (D), Paige Radel (F), Sophia Romine (M), and Anna Sabo (M). These six players are all newcomers to Detroit City FC.
Hannah Gabriel joins Le Rouge after completing her freshman year at Valparaiso University where she played as a midfielder. A native of Northville, Michigan, Gabriel made one appearance in her freshman campaign. Prior to Valparaiso, Gabriel was a crucial member of the Michigan Jaguars 2004/05 Academy Squad.
Ella Kane is another young addition to the Detroit City FC squad, fresh off of her freshman year at the University of Kentucky. In the 2023 season, Kane made 13 substitute appearances for the Wildcats, totaling 197 minutes of play. Kane scored her first-ever collegiate goal, coming in a 3-0 win over Belmont on September 7, 2023.
Ella Offer has already appeared for Detroit City FC this season, starting and playing a crucial role in Le Rouge’s 2024 Home Opener, a 2-1 win over Flint City AFC on 5/18. Offer is coming to Detroit City FC off of her sophomore season at Xavier University, where she appeared in nine matches and saw 68 minutes of game time.
Paige Radel missed her 2022 season at the University of Evansville due to an injury suffered in her summer club season. In 2023 she made her first collegiate appearances (9) and made four starts on the season.
Sophia Romine joins Detroit City FC after four seasons of Big Ten play with her first two (2020 and 2021) coming at the University of Wisconsin and the previous two seasons coming at the University of Minnesota. She was heavily involved in the Badger’s truncated 2020 season, starting in all 14 matches, becoming the only freshman to do so, but only made two starts the following season before transferring to Minnesota. Her two seasons at Minnesota saw her appear in 36 matches, starting all 36. Romine scored 12 goals and registered four assists in these 36 matches. She was tied for second-most goals in 2022 and led the Golden Gophers in goals in 2023 with six.
Anna Sabo comes into the fold off of an incredibly productive season at Delta College as she scored six goals and assisted 11 times in 24 games, good for 23 points on the season.
These newcomers bring the roster up to 34 players ahead of tonight’s match against Michiana Lions FC!

MAY 10 ROSTER UPDATE
Detroit City FC has announced four players who will be joining the 2024 W League squad: Lilley Bosley (M), Allie Tefend (D), Claire Ciarlino (D), and Fatima Nasser (M). These four players are the first newcomers to the Le Rouge W League side for the 2024 season but Claire Ciarlino and Fatima Nasser emerged as fan-favorites during the Premier Arena Soccer League season in the winter.
Lilley Bosley joins Detroit City FC fresh off of a heavily involved Freshman year playing for the University of Michigan. In the 2023 season, Bosley appeared in 18 matches, starting 12 for the Maize and Blue while playing just over 1,200 minutes. She was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and was the recipient of the Newcomer of the Year Award. Before Michigan, Bosley was named a top 50 high school recruit in the country and won Michigan’s Miss Soccer award two years in a row, 2022 and 2023.
Allie Tefend comes into the fold following successful 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies after transferring from the University of Illinois Chicago after the 2021 season. In 2023, Tefend started in 12 matches, playing 17 in total, nearly reaching 1300 minutes of play.
Claire Ciarlino made herself known to Detroit City FC fans during the PASL season with her work ethic and speed always on full display. In the ten-match regular season, Ciarlino started in four matches, scoring five goals and registering nine assists. A native of Taylor, Michigan, Ciarlino played two years of collegiate soccer at Lourdes University in 2016 and 2017. In her time at Lourdes, she started 27 matches, appearing in 31. She scored 13 goals and registered eight assists over her two seasons.
Fatima Nasser also contributed greatly to the PASL season, scoring and assisting twice in the regular season. Nasser always had an eye for goal and never shied away from trying a clever skill to open space up down the field. Prior to joining Le Rouge for the indoor season, Nasser played collegiate soccer at the University of Miami.
These newcomers bring the roster up to 28 players ahead of Saturday’s season-opening match on the road to Flint City AFC!

APRIL 30 ROSTER UPDATE
Detroit City FC has begun announcing its roster for the 2024 USL W League Season, its third in the league and the fifth year the club has fielded a women’s first team.
Second-year head coach David Dwaihy is delighted to return such a large core from last season and has cited roster continuity as an important part of success in the USL W League.
This group of returning players features a vast range of experience, with former professional players looking to continue their journey with the sport, sharing roster spots with players still in High School, and looking to grow their skills with every training session. Many returning players also played with each other in the Premier Arena Soccer League in the winter, only adding to the squad cohesion.
“We’re counting on the more senior players’ leadership and consistency. Then we’ve got a really exciting batch of younger players, some of whom are still in high school, to come in and learn from those older players but also push them and, you know, raise the level of competition and intensity,” said Dwaihy.
