Detroit, Michigan – Detroit City FC dominates Detroit Waza in their Premier Arena Soccer League matchup on Saturday night, coming out victorious in a record 16-0 victory at the Detroit City Fieldhouse to improve their record to 6-0-1.
In what was technically an away match for Le Rouge, Detroit City FC was looking to do to Waza what they did last time: control the match flow and boost their goal differential for the season. Detroit City FC began the match with the following lineup: Gabby Schriver (GK), Claire Ciarlino, Shannon McCarthy, Megan Miles, Amanda Britain, and Bella Sabo.
Le Rouge would quickly put this game to rest in the first quarter, scoring four goals in the first fifteen minutes of play from Kayla Addison, Hannah Crum, and Bella Sabo (2). Detroit City FC was playing some incredible football, with most of their goals on the evening coming from 1v1 opportunities or open-net tap-ins due to the intricate passing in the midfield.
The game would quickly become out of reach for Waza in the second quarter as Detroit City FC would score eight goals coming from Kayla Addison (2), Bella Sabo, Hannah Crum (3), Tatiana Mason, and a Waza own-goal. To make matters worse, Waza would receive a red card after Talia Scicluna was judged to have pulled the hair of Shannon McCarthy. Le Rouge would head into the halftime break up 12-0.
The third quarter of the match would only see one goal for Detroit City FC, coming from a clever run and tight-angled finish from Claire Ciarlino to extend the Le Rouge lead to 13-0.
The fourth quarter would pick up a bit, with Le Rouge scoring three more goals, coming from really well-worked moves finished off by Tatiana Mason, Bella Sabo, and Katie Coleman.
With this win, Le Rouge improves their record to 6-0-1, with their next match set for Friday, March 8 when they hit the road for a rematch with Zoo City FC at SoccerZone in Portage, Michigan. The last time Detroit City FC faced off against Zoo City FC, Le Rouge came out victorious 11-2.
