DETROIT, Michigan – Detroit City FC has announced its pre-season schedule as preparation for the club’s third campaign in the USL Championship gets underway.
The players will first report for duty on Thursday, January 25 for entry-physicals before the first day of training on Monday, January 29.
After the first two weeks of training, the squad will pack its bags and head to the 2024 Desert Showcase in Tuscon, Arizona.
While at the Desert Showcase, Detroit City FC begins their pre-season slate with a match against Grand Canyon University of the NCAA’s Western Athletic Conference on February 10.
Then, three days later, Le Rouge will face off against New Mexico United of the Western Conference of the USL Championship on February 13. These two sides met in the 2023 USL Championship regular season at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, a match that ended in a 1-0 loss for Le Rouge. The two sides will meet again in the regular season on September 14 at Keyworth Stadium.
Detroit City FC will then match up against El Paso Locomotive of the Western Conference at the Desert Showcase on February 15. These two sides met in El Paso, Texas in last year’s USL Championship regular season on March 18, Le Rouge came out victorious by a scoreline of 3-1.
Then, upon returning home from Tuscon, Le Rouge will head to Ohio to take on the Columbus Crew II of MLS Next Pro at the Historic Crew Stadium on February 22 before a trip to Indianapolis for a pre-season friendly with Eastern Conference foes Indy Eleven on February 29. This is the sixth consecutive season that these two sides will face off in a friendly match, dating back to 2019.
Detroit City FC will close out its pre-season slate of matches with a March 8 tie against Oakland University in their dome on campus.
While all of Detroit City FC’s pre-season matches will be closed to the public, the club will be providing lineups, halftime, full-time scores, and match recaps at detcityfc.com as well as on their social media channels.
