Detroit, Michigan – Detroit City FC is set to play host to Miami FC on Saturday at Keyworth Stadium in a crucial game for the playoff push. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM Eastern and will be streamed live on ESPN+ while also being broadcast on TV20 Detroit.
Detroit is coming off a 1-1 draw against Memphis 901 FC, which saw Devon Amoo-Mensah score his first goal of the season and first for the club in the 36th minute to give DCFC the 1-0 lead. But a Luiz Fernando goal for Memphis in the 72nd minute saw this game end all square at 1-1.
With the draw, Detroit extended their unbeaten streak to three games after two straight wins over Las Vegas Lights FC and Birmingham Legion FC that got them right back into the playoff hunt.
With the Detroit City FC draw and an FC Tulsa win last Sunday, Le Rouge fell into 9th place in the Eastern Conference, one spot outside of the playoffs, with just seven games remaining. FC Tulsa currently sits on 32 points, a one-point advantage on Le Rouge, but they have also played one more game than Detroit.
Miami comes into Saturday’s matchup off of a 1-0 loss to Indy Eleven last weekend. Currently, Miami FC sits in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points, two points behind Detroit in 9th.
If a team can come away with the full three points in this game, it would be crucial for their chase for the final playoff spot. Although Detroit City still has other crucial games in front of them against Indy Eleven, Loudoun United, and Hartford Athletic. Due to their game in hand, Detroit City FC still controls their own destiny.
These two faced off earlier this season at Riccardo Silva Stadium, where the teams settled for a 0-0 draw. That match was relatively even, but getting a shot on net was the struggle, with Miami only having one shot on net in the 90 minutes compared to Detroit’s two shots.
Le Rouge has yet to defeat Miami FC since joining the USL Championship in 2022. In the three matchups between these two teams, the points have been shared on two occasions and Miami FC played spoiler of Le Rouge’s home finale last season, coming out on top in a 1-0 scoreline in October 2022.
