Detroit, Michigan – Detroit City FC is set for a huge Sunday matchoff against Birmingham Legion FC on the road at BBVA Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama in a match that can add momentum to their Push for the Playoffs. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 5 PM Eastern and streaming is available on ESPN+.
Fresh off of a solid 1-0 win at home to Las Vegas Lights FC which saw Maxi Rodriguez and Skage Simonsen link up in the Vegas penalty area, Le Rouge is looking to continue their win streak against the Legion to four games. Defender Devon Amoo-Mensah was named to the Week 24 Team of the Week for his performance against Las Vegas on 8/19.
Saturday night was a big one for Le Rouge’s Playoff hopes with very favorable results around the Eastern Conference which saw bubble teams FC Tulsa, Miami FC, and Loudoun United all lose their matches. Due to this, a win on Sunday for Detroit City FC would put them into the final playoff spot.
With matches still to come for Le Rouge against Miami FC, Indy Eleven, Loudoun United, and Hartford, the club controls its own destiny in their final nine matches of the season.
Birmingham comes into Sunday’s matchup in a good run of form, picking up two wins this week against Louisville City FC (2-0) and FC Tulsa (3-1). The Legion currently sit in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, 9 points ahead of Detroit City FC in 10th place.
