Albuquerque, New Mexico – Le Rouge will wrap up their two-match road trip as they head to Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park to face off against New Mexico United of the Western Conference. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:00 PM with streaming available on ESPN+.
DCFC heads into this match coming off a 3-2 loss against FC Tulsa that a heartbreaking 89th-minute winner from Marcus Epps decided. Le Rouge will be looking to reignite their late May and early July form that saw them go five matches unbeaten before dropping their two most recent matches.
Goals will be needed following a match in which center-backs Matt Lewis, and Stephen Carroll provided the goals in the previous match against FC Tulsa.
Le Rouge’s striking pair, Ben Morris and Skage Simonsen have struggled to find the back of the net since the match against Hartford Athletic when the pair both netted goals.
New Mexico United heads into this match unbeaten in three, including wins against El Paso Locomotive, and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Although their most recent match they would share the points with the bottom of the Western Conference Las Vegas Lights which included a goal from former Le Rouge forward Pato Botello Faz.
DCFC will need to be wary of New Mexico’s top scorer Amando Moreno who has scored two in his last three matches, bringing him to five goals on the season. Le Rouge will also need to keep an eye on their top creator Josh Dolling who currently sits on three assists for the season.
New Mexico United is managed by recently appointed Eric Quill who stepped into the role on the 13th of June. Quill most recently was the Assistant Manager of MLS side Columbus Crew, and beforehand was the Manager of the USL League One side North Texas SC that in 2019 won the league title with a record-breaking 56 points, earning Quill Manager of the Year honors.
The only other time the two clubs have faced off was in June of last season when the two sides shared the points in a tight-knit 2-2 match that saw New Mexico claw their way back into the match with a goal in added time of the second half.
Following this match DCFC will return to Keyworth Stadium for midweek action on the 12th of July when they face off against e Loudon United in a match that will be crucial to playoff hopes for both sides.
