Detroit, Michigan – Detroit City FC announced today that the club had signed local Academy product Dominic Gasso to his first professional contract, pending league and federation approval.
Gasso’s contract is the longest in the history of Detroit City FC with the young midfielder committing to the club for four and a half years, which includes two and a half years guaranteed and two one-year options for 2026 and 2027. He is the first player in club history to be signed to a professional contract after coming through the academy setup.
Gasso had previously made eight appearances in the USL Championship for Le Rouge as a USL Academy signing. Making his first appearance for Le Rouge on the road to the Charleston Battery last season when he came on for the final four minutes of the match.
This season has seen Gasso take on an increased role in the squad, coming on for more impactful moments and making his mark. In Le Rouge’s last match, at home to Orange County SC, Gasso came on to replace an injured Abdoulaye Diop in the 34th minute and calmly slotted into the midfield for the remaining 56 minutes of play. Gasso completed 83% of his attempted passes, going 19 for 23. Gasso was named the Man of the Match for his efforts off of the bench.
The 19-year-old now joins the professional ranks where he will continue to build his career at Keyworth Stadium.
