April 27 Roster Update
Today Detroit City FC has announced the addition of two former Big Ten athletes in former Michigan State University midfielder Danielle Stephan and former Iowa Hawkeye defender Melanie Moore.
Stephan, a DeWitt, Michigan native, suited up for the Green and White of MSU from 2017-2021, making 81 appearances while starting 65 matches. As a midfielder, she has the ability to pick apart defenses with dangerous balls into the final third of the pitch.
This ability to unlock defenses resulted in 21 assists over her career at MSU. Stephan also scored four goals at the collegiate level. Her 81 appearances see her sit alone in second place all-time for appearances for the MSU Women’s Soccer program.
Moore, formerly known as Melanie Pickert, is a native of Canton, Michigan who was a crucial part of the Iowa Hawkeyes backline between 2011 and 2014.
Coming into the University of Iowa as a freshman, Moore would make an immediate impact, starting in all 20 matches and being named the team’s Most Valuable Defensive Player. She’d pick up right where she left off in her Sophomore year, winning Back-to-Back Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year Awards, the fourth player to win the award in consecutive years.
Moore would continue to be a crucial part of the Hawkeyes program into her Junior year, winning yet again the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year award while leading her squad in goals, and game-winning goals. For the first time, she was also named Team MVP in 2013. She and her teammates willed the Hawkeyes to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013.
To round out an impressive career at the University of Iowa, she would win Team MVP for the second year in a row following a season that saw Moore play 1,719 minutes. Before suffering an injury in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Big Ten Tournament, Moore had started every match in her collegiate career, a streak of 84 games.

Peters is coming off a season where she made five appearances for the Wolverines, totaling 91 minutes of play with her most action coming against Boston University on August 28 where she saw 31 minutes of play.
Peters is a versatile player, officially listed as a midfielder for the Wolverines, she played nearly all of her minutes last season helping out the Maize and Blue backline. After missing her freshman year due to injury, Peters is looking to show off her agility, speed, and strength this summer for Le Rouge.
Adelle Francis from Perrysburg, Ohio, joins Le Rouge prior to her Freshman year at Michigan State University. The Spartan commit comes in having scored 47 goals and registering 12 assists in 37 matches played for her high school varsity team this season, averaging 1.59 goal contributions per match. Karolak played 1563 minutes for the University of Illinois last season, scoring one goal and notching one assist as a member of the defense.
