Detroit, Michigan – The Detroit City FC USL W League squad is back on the road tomorrow evening, heading out of state to take on Cleveland Force SC of the Great Lakes Division. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM at DiSanto Field on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. Any streaming information will be provided on Detroit City FC’s social channels.
Le Rouge is coming off of back-to-back 2-2 draws on the road to the teams currently occupying first and second place in the Great Lakes Division, most recently drawing on the road to Flint City AFC on Saturday and to Kalamazoo FC last Wednesday.
In Flint on Saturday, Detroit City FC found themselves down within 15 minutes after an unlucky deflection created an own goal and gave Flint the early lead. Heads would not drop, though, as Detroit City FC pressed on in search of an equalizer by exploiting the wide positions through Kayla Addison and Brynn Gardner.
This pressure on the Flint City AFC backline would lead to Le Rouge’s equalizing goal in the 61st minute of play with a goal from Ellie Pool on the half-volley outside the 18-yard-box. Detroit City FC would continue to build from the equalizer, looking to go ahead late. Then, right before the 80th minute, substitute Lily Jeakle would receive the ball in the midfield and played a perfectly-weighted pass to substitute Adelle Francis who made no mistake and put Detroit City FC up by a score of 2-1.
The lead would not last long though as the hosts would score the equalizer just minutes later to ensure the points were shared between the two sides. Their second draw in a week with both sides playing to an entertaining 0-0 at Keyworth Stadium on 5/13.
Cleveland comes into Wednesday’s match needing a win, having played three games already and earning zero points. Two tight losses to Kalamazoo FC to begin their season saw scorelines of 2-1 and 3-1 and their most recent match saw them lose to Midwest United FC by a score of 1-0 at home.
Cleveland Force SC is coached by Rob Miller who holds a USSF National B License and played at John Carroll University in Ohio between the years 1993 and 1996. Miller has also been on the staff of the Notre Dame College Women’s Soccer team since 2011.
