DETROIT, Michigan – Today the USL W League has announced the league-wide schedules for the 2023 season. Detroit City FC will begin its 2023 campaign against the Flint City Bucks on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 PM at Keyworth Stadium.
After starting their season at home against the Flint City Bucks, who Le Rouge defeated 3-1 last season, Detroit City FC will be on the road to face off against familiar foes Kalamazoo FC on Wednesday, May 17. They will stay on the road for two more matches, against the Flint City Bucks and newcomers Cleveland Force FC on May 20 and May 24 respectively. They round out the month of May with a home match on Saturday, May 27 at 7 PM against Kalamazoo FC.
May 27 will be the first-ever home Men’s and Women’s doubleheader with the USL Championship side kicking off against Birmingham Legion FC at 4 PM that afternoon.
Le Rouge will have four home matches in the USL W League during the month of June, welcoming AFC Ann Arbor, Midwest United, Flint City Bucks, and Cleveland Force FC. Longtime fans of Detroit City FC will be familiar with AFC Ann Arbor as the two sides first met in the National Premier Soccer League in 2016 in Detroit City FC’s first-ever match at Keyworth Stadium.
The regular season will be concluded with an away trip to AFC Ann Arbor on Saturday, July 1.
Last season, Detroit City FC had a record of 3-3-6 in the USL W League and is part of the Central Conference this season which is divided into three divisions. The Valley division, The Great Lakes Division, and the Heartland Division. The overarching conference and its divisions will become more relevant when playoff information is announced at a later date.
