DETROIT, Michigan – Detroit City FC will be home this holiday weekend, facing Indy Eleven of the Eastern Conference, who sit in 9th place. This will be their second match of the season as they squared up against each other in Indianapolis on July 9th, where City came up with 1-0 win on an early goal by forward Connor Rutz. The game is this Saturday September 3rd at 7:30pm EST at Keyworth Stadium and it will be streamed on TV20 and ESPN+.
This past Saturday, Le Rouge travelled to South Carolina to take on the Charleston Battery where they walked away with three points and an impressive 3-0 win. After a scoreless first half, the first two goals of the game came from forward Pato Botello Faz in the 48’ and 53’ minutes The 3rd goal was an own goal by Charleston defender Patrick Hogan in the 65’ minute to round out the scoring.
DCFC now has a 11-3-6 record, which has them currently sitting in 7th place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, just 13 points off 1st place Louisville City. They are just one point off 6th place, behind Miami FC with a game in hand.
Forward Pato Botello Faz added to his goal tally against Charleston Battery and is now the team leading goal scorer this season with eight. He is also Detroit’s all-time leading scorer in the Professional Era (2020-Pres) with 17 goals. For Week 25, Botello Faz earned a spot on the Team of the Week for the first time this season.
Over the last four games, forward Antoine Hoppenot has tallied four assists. He notched one assist against Oakland Roots, two assists against Birmingham Legion as a 2nd half sub, and one assist against the Charleston Battery. He leads the team this season with eight assists and is the all-time leading assist leader in the Professional Era (2020-Pres) with eight.
Coming into this Saturday’s game, Indy Eleven has 25 points and a record of 8-4-14. Indy Eleven’s record over their last five games is 2-0-3 and they are currently on a two-match winning streak. In their last two games they have upset both top of the Eastern Conference, Louisville City FC by a score of 2-1, and Western Conference leaders San Antonio FC by a score of 1-0. Indy went winless from June 4th to August 27th.
Forward Stéfano Pinho has nine goals this season, which ties him in 17th place overall in the league. Pinho just scored both goals in Indy’s big 2-1 win over Louisville City FC this week. With his three assists, 37 shots this season and 123 aerial duels, he is first on the team in all categories. He is 2nd on the team with 14 chances created. He was named to The Team of the Week for Week 7.
Forward Manuel Arteaga is 1st on the team with 20 shots on target, tied for 1st with 33 shots, 2nd on the team with five goals and 14 chances created and 3rd with two assists. He also leads the team with 266 duels and 115 duels won. For Week 13, Arteaga was named to Team of the Week, as well as earning Player of the Week.
Next Saturday, City travels to Colorado to take on the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. This game will be at Weidner Field on Saturday September 10th, with kickoff at 9:00PM EST.
