After playing Indy Eleven at home just one week ago, Le Rouge travel to Indianapolis and are looking to end a tough season on a high note
Indianapolis, Indiana- The Detroit City Football Club (3-5-3) is looking to end its inaugural USL W season on a high note as they travel to Indianapolis for a rematch against Indy Eleven (9-0-2). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. from Carroll Stadium with streaming available via ELEVEN Sports.
The two clubs met just eight days ago at Keyworth Stadium when Indy handed Le Rouge a 3-0 loss in their final home match. Detroit City was able to hold their own against the Great Lakes Division leader in the first half, but Indy Eleven quickly took control in the second half thanks to Katie Soderstrom’s brace.
Detroit City will look to recreate their first half performance and spoil Indy’s undefeated season by handing them their first loss. Indy Eleven has been dominant this season, only drawing with AFC Ann Arbor and Kings Hammer FC, while Le Rouge has spent most of the season in the middle of the standings.
A lot of this dominance comes from the performances of the aforementioned Katie Soderstrom who has scored nine goals in 11 matches this season. Her attacking prowess has been matched by another lethal striker for Indy Eleven: Madison Williams. Williams has found the back of the net 10 times and also has an assist on the season.
If Le Rouge hopes to pull off the upset, they’ll likely need solid performances from their most consistent goal scorers, Ellie Pool and Kayla Addison who both lead the team with three goals each this season. They’ll also be looking for help from Shannon McCarthy and her excellent field vision, to set them up as she leads the team with three assists this season.
