After two league matches away, Le Rouge returns home for its first midweek league matchup of the season at Keyworth Stadium.

DETROIT, Michigan – After two league games on the road, Detroit City FC will be back at home for the first time since drawing 1-1 with El Paso Locomotive FC on June 18. City will be playing Hartford Athletic for the second time this season, this time hosting at Keyworth Stadium at 7:30pm on Wednesday July 6. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and TV20.
In April, City was able to score in stoppage time and beat Hartford Athletic through the head of captain Stephen Carroll and bring home all three points by a score of 2-1.
Last Saturday in Las Vegas, DCFC defeated Las Vegas Lights FC by a scoreline of 1-0 at Cashman Field and snapped a four match winless streak that dated back to May 21st. Forward Connor Rutz got his first goal in the USL Championship with a header on a cross from defender Deklan Wynne in the 63rd minute. This was Detroit’s eighth win of the season and first win against a Western Conference opponent this season.
Detroit City FC now has an 8-5-4 record, sitting currently in 4th place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference, just seven points off first place Louisville City. Two out of the top four teams have lost three times and the other two have lost four times in the Eastern Conference.
Defender Deklan Wynne earned his fourth assist of the season against Las Vegas, which ties him with forward Antoine Hoppenot for most on Le Rouge. Both players are tied for 11th in the league with four assists. Wynne has one goal on the season, his first and only coming against Hartford to tie the game in the second half in April. Wynne has created 16 chances in league play and is tied for third in the league with 13 accurate crosses.
Goalkeeper Nate Steinwascher came up big against Las Vegas Lights FC multiple times, ending the match with four saves. He has a total of 50 saves this season, which ties him for second in the league. He has five clean sheets, placing him ninth place in the league. Steinwascher has allowed 17 goals, putting him in 21st place in the USL and he has the fourth best save percentage in the league with 74.6%.
Hartford Athletic currently sits in 10th place in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship, with a 4-3-9 record. In their 16 games played, they have amassed a total of 15 points.
In their most recent five games in league play, they have a 2-1-2 record with wins over Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (2-0) and Atlanta United 2 (3-0), a draw against Memphis 901 FC (1-1) and losses against Louisville City FC (2-0) and San Diego Loyal (3-0).
Midfielder Andre Lewis has played in all of Hartford’s 16 games this season and leads the team with 24 chances created. He has 10 shots on the season, including five on target and leads his team with 139 duels. Defender Modou Jadam has started and played in all 16 games this season, never being subbed off. He is the team leader in clearances (64), blocks (21), aerial duels (56), passes (835) and long passes (188).
City’s next game will be away this Saturday July 9th, taking on the Indy Eleven at Carroll Soccer Stadium at 7:00pm in Indianapolis.
