Detroit City FC Youth West announces the addition of a Men’s and Women’s team set to play in the Michigan Premier Soccer League (MPSL) this summer, 2022.
While this is open to all, the addition of these squads is to provide an opportunity for not only our current players, but our alumni college players to come home and play for their club. Home matches will be played at Independence Park in Canton.
These squads will be coached by Charlie Miles and Megan Miles. Charlie, who has been with the DCFC Youth West since 2016 and is currently an assistant coach at the University of Detroit Mercy, will take the helm of the Men’s squad. “I’m very excited to be coaching this caliber of players as well as providing an opportunity for the younger players within our club to train among some more experienced bodies,” said Charlie Miles. “I am looking forward to helping the players both on and off the field, creating an environment that provides them with what they need in the off-season.”
Megan started with DCFC Youth West in 2020 and is currently an assistant at Lawrence Technological University is excited for this new opportunity for the players and herself. She currently plays on the Detroit City FC Women’s team. “The MPSL team is a great opportunity for athletes within our club to train and play in a competitive environment during the summer months,” said Megan Miles. “I am excited to provide the group with opportunities to grow stronger individually and as a team, and use my many years of experience with this sport to help build others up.”
Charlie Bell, Director of Coaching for DCFC Youth West, has helped with this endeavor to fill a needed gap for our players between youth and the next level. “We are thrilled to have coach Megan and coach Charlie lead these squads with their collegiate experience in our inaugural season with MPSL. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside both of these coaches over the last few years and I believe they’ll be a great fit to challenge our men and women both tactically and technically as they push for an MPSL title,” said Bell.
