Detroit City FC, Ally ink multi-year agreement featuring collaboration on community initiatives
DETROIT, Michigan – Detroit City Football Club today announced a multi-year deal with Ally Financial, as the official financial services sponsor of the Club.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Ally,” said Sean Mann, CEO of DCFC. “As we continue to grow our organization, we appreciate being able to join with a national leader, like Ally, that is rooted in our own community.”
The multi-year partnership will see Detroit-based Ally's logo on the back of Detroit City FC’s jerseys for its men’s and women’s teams through 2022.
Ally and Detroit City FC will collaborate joint community initiatives, focused around their mutual commitment to common core values. Ally will sponsor the team’s Prideraiser matching community donations to the Ruth Ellis Center for each goal scored in June. The company is also working with The Fowling Warehouse and a local artist to create a mural dedicated to the team and the fans.
“This relationship is a perfect fit because Ally shares the values behind the team’s motto ‘Passion for Our City, Passion for the Game,’” said Andrea Brimmer, chief marketing and public relations officer, Ally. “As a Detroit company with a long history in this city, we look forward to working with Detroit City FC to continue our support for this community. This also allows us to extend our support for soccer to our own backyard.”
This past year, Detroit City became truly supporter owned with the Club’s historic public investment campaign, which resulted in over 3,000 fans buying an equity stake in the club. As the club’s official financial services partner, Ally will be the presenting sponsor of an exclusive monthly call for Le Rouge’s newly invested co-owners with the Club’s front office, providing an unparalleled opportunity to experience and engage with the management of an American professional soccer club.
Since its beginning in 2012, Detroit City FC has been dedicated to servicing the city of Detroit and building a positive community through its partnerships and philanthropic missions, as noted in the club's motto, "Passion for our city. Passion for the game." In 2014, the Club became the first American sports team to wear a uniform in support of LGBTQ inclusion in a regulation match with proceeds from the kit auction going to the Ruth Ellis Center. With this dedication to the Metro Detroit community, the Club breathed new life into Historic Keyworth Stadium with a record-setting community investment campaign.
Commitment to Detroit is just one shared value between Detroit City FC and Ally. In 2018, Ally teed off the Ally Challenge – an official event of the PGA TOUR Champions – which has donated a total of nearly $3.2 million to local charities in Southeastern Michigan. Consistent with its mission to be a true ally to its customers, employees, and communities, Ally Financial launched a comprehensive set of financial support initiatives to help the people and communities it serves to withstand the extraordinary pressures triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of a total commitment of $3 million to its communities, Ally directed $1 million to help those impacted by COVID-19 in Metro Detroit. The funds responded to critical needs—including food/food distribution, health care, emergency housing and childcare.
