DETROIT, MICHIGAN – The Detroit City FC men’s side will play its first away match of the 2020 NISA fall season, making the 25 mile trip to Ultimate Soccer Arena in Pontiac on Saturday, August 22, to take on the Michigan Stars. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
DCFC looks to rebound from a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chattanooga FC on August 15th at Keyworth Stadium. CFC took an early lead as striker Darwin Lom found the back of the City net in the fourth minute. Chattanooga doubled its lead early in the second half to create all the room it needed to see the match through. The loss was the first for Le Rouge since the 2019 campaign. City opened 2020 by holding a clean sheet for 274 minutes of play.
Detroit City struggled to create attacking threats last time out after a pair of dominating performances en route to capturing the Great Lakes region of the inaugural NISA Independent Cup earlier this month.
The Stars come into the weekend atop the league table with four points. A late strike in week one gave the side a 2-1 decision over Chattanooga before playing the Cosmos to a 1-1 draw in New York last weekend.
The Detroit City Clubhouse will be hosting an outdoor viewing party on Saturday. The outdoor bar area will be covered with televisions and a projector setup to #WatchCity versus the Stars.
