Detroit City FC’s 2020 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup journey begins Wednesday, April 8 at Keyworth Stadium, when DCFC hosts El Paso Locomotive FC of the USL Championship.
Kickoff for the second round Open Cup match is set for 7 PM ET.
This will be DCFC’s fifth U.S. Open Cup appearance and its last appearance since 2018. The Open Cup, now in its 107th year of existence, has proved memorable for City, who in 2018 defeated the then-Michigan Bucks in penalty kicks at home and took FC Cincinnati to extra time on the road in the second round of action. In 2016, Le Rouge defeated the Bucks in penalty kicks before falling to USL’s Louisville City in penalty kicks in Kentucky.
A modern-era record 100 clubs will participate in the 107th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the longest-running soccer tournament in America. Teams from Major League Soccer will enter the competition in the third round.
Information on tickets for the April 8th match will be released in the coming weeks.
