DETROIT – Detroit City FC will take to the pitch on Tuesday, October 8 in support of We the People of Detroit, a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to informing, educating and empowering Detroit residents on civil rights, land, water, education and the democratic process.
In honor of We the People of Detroit, DCFC players will wear a special patch on their 2019 black alternate jerseys. During the match, each participating player’s autographed, game-worn jersey will be auctioned off to the highest bidder in a silent auction held at Keyworth Stadium. All proceeds raised will benefit We the People of Detroit.
The match kicks off at 7:30 PM at Keyworth Stadium against Michigan Stars FC. Tickets for the penultimate home match are still available at tickets.https://www.detcityfc.com.
Founded in 2008 by five women of color, We the People is a community leader in championing Detroiters’ access to safe water. The organization works to give low-income families access to clean water, provides education on water issues, conducts research to raise awareness and mobilizes people to collaborate to improve their quality of life.

During the 2019 season, DCFC introduced a fundraising initiative in support of water-based efforts in Detroit and around the globe. At each DCFC home match in 2019, the club sold a limited amount of matchday prints designed by international and Detroit-based artists. Proceeds from the charity prints benefit the artists, We the People of Detroit and Viva Con Agua, a network of people and organizations committed to establishing access to fresh drinking water and basic sanitation for all humans worldwide.
