Detroit advanced to 3-0 in the 2019 National Premier Soccer League Members Cup with a 1-0 win on the road over the Milwaukee Torrent on Saturday night.
It was a physical affair, with 5 yellow cards between both teams and a straight red card issued to Milwaukee’s Steffen Boehmri in the 73rd minute.
Detroit City got its break in the 53rd minute, when 34th-minute substitute Danny Deakin took advantage of a Detroit counterattack and crossed the ball from the left flank. Deakin’s cross landed at the back post and right on the feet of Milwaukee defender Sebastian Ciaccheri, who turned toward his goal and smashed it into his own net.
Detroit would hold on to the lead throughout the second half. Defender Jalen Crisler earned Man of the Match honors for his defensive heroics.
DCFC returns to Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, September 21 to host the New York Cosmos at 7:30 PM ET. Tickets for the match are still available at tickets.https://www.detcityfc.com.
