Detroit City FC (6-1-2) nabbed five goals on the road against Toledo Villa FC on Sunday afternoon, advancing its unbeaten streak and shutout streak to seven matches.
Tommy Buono opened the scoring in the 11th minute, getting a touch on a ball played into the box by Danny Deakin.
It wouldn’t be Deakin’s only assist on the day – he helped on three of City’s five goals, and even tallied a goal of his own on a long-distance strike.
Buono’s goal was his first of the regular season, and it was the only goal of the first half.
City scored four unanswered in the second half, with Seb Harris scoring in the 53rd minute on a free kick from Danny Deakin. Deakin’s free kick found the head of Harris at the back post, and the veteran defender tucked it away past the Toledo goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
In the 61st minute, Toledo went down to 10 men after Colin McCort received his second yellow card.
Saydee scored his third goal of the season in the 77th minute after he got to the end of a rebound on Deakin’s shot. Deakin’s goal came just three minutes later.
City would go down to 10 men in the 81st minute after Michael Pimlott received a straight red card for hitting a Toledo player with an elbow to the face.
Shawn Lawson rounded out the scoring in the 84th minute.
