Two of America’s most well-known independent soccer clubs, Chattanooga FC and Detroit City FC, today announced a non-conference matchup in Chattanooga’s Finley Stadium on April 6, 2019.
Kickoff for the match is at 7:30 PM.
Recently, both teams announced their intent to participate in the inaugural NPSL Founders Cup, where they will meet each other again later in the year.
Last season, Chattanooga FC and Detroit City FC played a home and away series, which resulted in a 2-1 Detroit win in Chattanooga on April 21 and a 1-1 draw in Detroit on April 28.
“We will always look forward to playing Chattanooga,” said Detroit City FC co-owner Sean Mann. “It’s a match-up of two organizations that have redefined what an American soccer club can be, and it will also be a chance for some of the best soccer fans in the country to come together in the stands.”
“This is a match-up that we will always relish, but we are especially looking forward to a victory in this game to pull the series even,” said Sheldon Grizzle, president of Chattanooga Football Club. “These two teams demonstrate to communities across the country that grassroots soccer teams and passionate, loyal fans are here to stay.”
Both clubs deserve credit for growing the beautiful game at a grassroots level. Matches like these will be sure to draw eyes from all over the country and all levels of the sport.
“We expect these matches will generate considerable buzz, as both clubs are telling exciting stories in the soccer landscape” said NPSL Chairman Kenny Farrell. “We are proud to showcase this event to all the supporters of the NPSL and bring further awareness to teams in our league.”
Individual tickets will go on sale for $10 in advance on March 1st at chattanoogafc.com and $12 the day of the match at Finley Stadium.
More on Detroit City FC’s 2019 schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
