Detroit City FC will welcome Frosinone Calcio of Italy for an international friendly match at Keyworth Stadium on Tuesday, July 31 at 7:30 PM.
Founded in 1912 and playing in the second tier of Italian soccer, Frosinone Calcio is currently in the playoffs to be promoted to Serie A for the 2018-19 season.
If successful, the Lazio province-based club would be the second top-division international team to play Detroit City in 2018, after DCFC hosts Club Necaxa of Mexico on July 10th.
“Several members of the local Italian community approached us about the opportunity to host another rising professional club from overseas,” Sean Mann, co-owner of Detroit City FC, said. “We’re committed to bringing our fans unique experiences at the greatest value possible. This seemed like a perfect addition to a historic summer, including high profile exhibition matches against the likes of FC St. Pauli and Club Necaxa.”
“We decided to come to Canada in July to kick-start our training for the 2018-2019 season and are travelling to Windsor for three days to be with the local Italian community,” said Salvatore Gualtieri, Director of Marketing for Frosinone. “It is an honor to play a game with Detroit City FC, and to have the opportunity to play this game so that the Lazio community have the opportunity to see Frosinone Calcio play.”
The match is presented by DTE Energy.

Admission to the July 31st match is free for all Detroit City FC season ticket holders.

The match will be streamed on foxsportsdetroit.com and will be the third and final international friendly of the season for Detroit City FC. On May 19, DCFC hosted beloved German club, FC St. Pauli and on July 10th the club will host Club Necaxa of Liga MX, the top division in Mexico.
