Detroit City FC announced today it has completed a change in its ownership group.
Mike Lasinski has joined as an equal partner alongside four of the original club owners, and co-founder Ben Steffans has exited the group.
Lasinski is the CEO and Managing Director for 284 Partners which is an intellectual property consulting firm based in Ann Arbor servicing clients globally. He helps companies buy, sell, license and manage their intellectual property. He has testified on the value of intellectual property throughout the world on matters involving infringement, tax and bankruptcy.
He has three children: Alec, Nate and Jack. He is married to Donna Lasinski, a representative in the State House.
Alec, Mike’s oldest son, played with Le Rouge during the 2016 season. He scored the first-ever goal for DCFC at Keyworth Stadium on May 20, 2016.
“Speaking for the group, we are thrilled to have Mike Lasinski on board,” DCFC co-owner Alex Wright said. “As a leader in his profession, Mike has earned the freedom to invest in organizations he believes in, and it speaks to his values and love for the sport of soccer that he is joining DCFC. With his help, we will continue to strive to make positive change in our community through soccer. 2018 will be our best year yet.”
“The energy the supporters bring to Keyworth is amazing – it rivals matches I have been to in Europe,” Lasinski said. “Importantly, the management team isn’t just focused on the DCFC team but also bringing soccer to lots of people in Michigan with its youth programs and the new Fieldhouse. I wanted to be a part of an organization that is focused on bringing the best product it can to a sport and city that I think is the future.”
The current ownership group of Detroit City FC includes Lasinski, David Dwaihy, Todd Kropp, Sean Mann and Alex Wright. In 2017, Mann took on the role of CEO, becoming the first owner to work for the club on a full-time basis.
Detroit City FC thanks Ben Steffans for his contribution to building Le Rouge, and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
