As the leading ambassador for soccer in Detroit, Detroit City FC is excited to announce its investment in the Detroit City Fieldhouse, a 75,000 square-foot indoor facility located in Detroit that will serve as an affordable and accessible playing space for the Detroit soccer community.
Located in the former City Sports Center ice skating rink at 3401 E Lafayette Street, the new Detroit City Fieldhouse is currently undergoing renovations and is projected to open in September 2018.
Detroit City FC is financing the renovations to the new facility, including installing new turf, energy-efficient lighting and providing additional cosmetic upgrades.
Detroit City Fieldhouse will include a boarded field and non-boarded field which will be used primarily for adult recreational soccer leagues, with the availability for multi-sport use.
As DCFC starts to develop formal partnerships with several youth soccer programs in Metro Detroit, the Detroit City Fieldhouse will also become a home to youth soccer clubs and leagues.
As part of the plans for the facility, a clubhouse will eventually be built between the two playing fields that will serve as a hub of activity for DCFC supporters, as well as a place for athletes and parents to grab a drink and meal.
The eventual space will overlook both fields and offer a full bar and kitchen to serve visitors and the region’s soccer enthusiasts looking to watch a match with friends.
The complex will also include spaces for other athletically oriented start-up businesses to sublease to launch their ventures and take advantage of the large number of members of the community that will utilize the facility.
DCFC will offer an indoor season for its neighborhood-based recreational adult soccer league, the Detroit City Futbol League, which has been running since 2010 and includes more than 32 teams. The DCFL currently offers a summer and fall league.

We envision a welcoming space that is the safest and most affordable soccer facility in the region, and also serves as a hub for healthier and more active lifestyles in the city.”
For years, City Sports Center served as a practice facility for the Detroit Red Wings and was home to Grosse Pointe South and U of D Jesuit hockey programs, Wayne State University Women’s Hockey, and adult recreational hockey leagues.
