UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the ‘Soccer in the D Showcase’ gallery opening has been cancelled. Be sure to check out all of the City photos at Oloman Cafe through the end of November!
Detroit City FC supporters came out to Oloman Cafe in Downtown Hamtramck to celebrate the opening of ‘This is City: Detroit Soccer Rises’ – a photo gallery commemorating the historic 2017 DCFC season.
Fans reminisced alongside DCFC and Northern Guard photographers, with limited edition framed photos made available for purchase.
A portion of the proceeds from sales benefitted the recovery of DCFC supporter Amanda Jaczkowski, who was critically injured in a biking accident this summer.
“The evening was a true testament to what this club and its supporters are all about,” DCFC community liaison Phil Lucas said. “We celebrated the accomplishments of an iconic season and rallied together to support one of our own.”
Various partners provided donations, including Axle Brewing Co, Communique Printing and Royal Kabob. Oloman Cafe hosted the event in their gallery space.
Didn’t get a chance to see the pieces? Don’t fret.
The framed works of art take a one-day journey to Design Detroit’s “Gallery 553” in Downtown Detroit on Friday, November 17. They will join memorabilia from other eras of Detroit’s soccer history. The event is open to the public from 6-9 PM. There will be free food and drinks provided by Design Detroit. A Facebook link to event page can be found here.

All portraits will then return to Oloman Cafe at 10215 Joseph Campau for display through the end of November.
